EMERGING ARTISITS
CALL FOR PROJECT APPLICATIONS

This is a general call for submissions to all past participants of the  O'Neill Puppetry Conference; inviting you to apply to work as an  Emerging Artists at 2008 O'Neill Puppetry Conference. The Emerging Artist component of the conference has been expressly designed to support and nurture the progress of puppet artists and their development of a new work for the puppet theater.  I would like to invite you to apply to be one of the four Emerging Artists at the Summer 2008 conference.

Each Emerging Artist will have the opportunity to workshop a new puppet project and to showcase it at the end of the conference.  Each presentation or excerpt should be no longer than 10 to 12 minutes.  We will provide a pool of performers, The Flock Theater of New London, solely committed to these productions.  We also make available staff mentoring and direction, as well as rehearsal spaces, depending on the needs of the participant.  The expectation is that these projects will be each emerging artist's primary focus and that they will provide the physical production element, whether fully designed or workshop mockups.  We would like the concept to be as fully developed as possible, with the emphasis on rehearsal and performance, not the physical production.  We ask that the number of performers needed for each project be kept to a maximum of three to four. We will be offering each of the four "Emerging Artist" a $250.00 scholarship to the Conference thus reducing their total fee to $700.00.

If you would like to apply, please email me a "one page" project proposal by April 15, 2008 to richardtermine [at] nyc.rr.com include: 1) project description 2) puppet/form of your project, 3) any technical requirements you might have 4) number of puppeteers you will require. You must also apply for admission  to the Puppetry  Conference by contacting Bobbie Nidzgorski, O'Neill Puppetry Conference, P.O. Box 616, Niantic, CT 06357-1610.  Please visit the O'Neill Puppetry Conference website and follow the Application process described there at www.oneillpuppetryconference.com  If you have any questions about this invitation, do not hesitate to contact me at my email: richardtermine [at] nyc.rr.com

Sincerely,

Richard Termine
